Hi, I am Flavia.

I’m a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).

I didn’t become a health coach because I had health figured out.

I became one after years of learning what it feels like to do the work and still not get the outcome.

I’m an engineer by training, a photographer and artist by practice, and a health coach by profession. Those may sound like completely different paths, but they’ve taught me versions of the same lesson: what you see on the surface rarely tells you everything about the system underneath.

Engineering taught me to ask how things work. Photography taught me to look carefully before deciding what I was seeing. Art taught me that there can be more than one way into a problem.

My own health taught me something harder.

For years, I lived with complex health challenges while doing many of the things I was told I was supposed to do. I tried. I learned. I adjusted. I kept going.

And sometimes, the outcome still didn’t change.

It took me a long time to understand that effort matters, but effort alone doesn’t determine what is possible. The tools available to us matter. Our bodies matter. Our circumstances matter. Time, energy, support, competing responsibilities and the rest of our lives matter too.

When some of those things changed for me, what was possible changed.

I was still the same person. The conditions were different.

That experience changed the way I think about health and behavior.

I don’t start with “Why aren’t you doing it?”

When someone knows what she wants to change but can’t seem to make it happen, I’m much more interested in understanding why.

What changed?

What used to work that doesn’t anymore?

What is demanding your attention right now?

What are you already doing that nobody sees?

What resources do you actually have available?

And what would make the next step more possible?

Health coaching gave me a way to bring those questions into a partnership rather than approaching someone with another set of instructions.

You are the expert on living in your life. My job isn’t to take that expertise away from you. It’s to bring my training, questions and perspective to the table so we can look at what is happening together.

Sometimes words aren’t the easiest place to start.

Art eventually found its way into my coaching for much the same reason.

Sometimes we know something is happening before we know how to explain it. A simple creative prompt can give us another way to notice what is difficult to put into words.

I don’t interpret your artwork. There is no key telling me that a particular color, shape or image means a particular thing.

You tell me what you see.

From there, we can explore what came up, the patterns you notice, what may be getting in the way, and what you want to do next.

And if art isn’t useful to you that day? We don’t need it. It’s a tool, not a requirement.

Your life changed. Now what?

Today, I work with women navigating change.

Sometimes the change is happening in your body or health. Sometimes it’s caregiving, family, work, aging, routines or responsibilities. Sometimes nothing fits neatly into one category—you simply know that the way you used to manage your life isn’t working the way it once did.

You may be highly capable. You may be the person other people depend on. You may have spent years figuring things out and pushing through.

And you may still reach a point where trying harder isn’t the answer.

That’s where our work can begin.

We look at what is actually happening, what matters to you, what is taking up your resources, and what might make change more possible in the life you have now.

Because when life changes, sometimes you don’t need another person telling you what you should be doing.

You need space to figure out how to adapt.

Book your free discovery call to explore what is possible and see if this feels like a good fit.
